Discover Madagascar southern destination

The southern part of Madagascar is ranked among the sites that attract many tourists to Madagascar thanks to its tourist potential.

One of the most popular destinations is Fort Dauphin: due to its position on the south-east coast of Madagascar, it has a wealth of tourist sites to discover, including:
– Andohahela National Park: Located around 40km north of Fort Dauphin along the RN 12, this national park is known for its exceptional biodiversity, with a variety of flora and fauna endemic to Madagascar. The hiking trails offer spectacular views of tropical forests and waterfalls.
– Libanona beaches: The pristine beaches of Libanona are the perfect place to relax, swim and soak up the sun. The area is also ideal for snorkelling and scuba diving due to its crystal clear waters and coral reefs.
– Fort Flacourt: Although the remains of the original French fort are largely gone, the historic location offers panoramic views over Fort Dauphin Bay and is an excellent vantage point for watching the sunset.
– Baie de lokaro: lies to the north of the town of Fort Dauphin and is renowned for its beautiful beaches and turquoise blue waters.

South of Fort Dauphin, you can discover the Berenty reserve, known for its wealth of typically southern plants and animals such as snakes, lemurs and birds.
Cap Sainte-Marie: at the southern tip of the big island, which attracts visitors to admire the separation of the Mozambique Channel and the Indian Ocean. This place is also known as the site of the discovery of the fossil of the largest bird known as the elephant bird (Aepyornis maximus ).

Tsimanampetsotsa Park: is a park with a salt lake that attracts pink flamingo birds to nest there thanks to its wealth of prey for the latter.
